Gender, form, and etymology
Etymology:
The generic name is a compound noun derived from the Latin word, Arctus (Ursa Major/Minor = north; from αρκτος), and Galloisiana, referring to the fact that this genus is endemic to Hokkaido, which is the northernmost main island in the Japanese Archipelago.
